After Care & Healing
Caring for Your Tattoo
Your artist will go over aftercare with you before you leave the studio, but here’s a simple guide to help you through the healing process.
Every tattoo heals a little differently. If you ever have questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your artist through Venue.
Right After Your Appointment
Leave your bandage on for 1-4 hours or the amount of time recommended by your artist.
Wash your hands before handling bandage or touching fresh tattoo.
Once removed, gently wash your tattoo with fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Wash the tattoo gently using only clean hands.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow it to air dry.
Once completely dry, apply a thin layer of the aftercare product recommended by your artist. Our general recommendation is an unscented hand or body lotion.
It is important that you do not over moisturize! Over moisturized tattoos tend to scab and prolong the healing process.
During the Next 2–3 Weeks
Keep It Clean
Wash your tattoo gently 1–2 times a day and apply a light layer of moisturizer as recommended by your artist.
Let It Heal Naturally
Some redness, peeling, flaking, and itching are completely normal. Avoid picking or scratching your tattoo while it heals.
Avoid Soaking
Showers are fine, but avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, and baths until your tattoo is fully healed.
Stay Out of the Sun
Keep your healing tattoo out of direct sunlight. Once healed, sunscreen is the best way to keep your tattoo looking vibrant for years to come.
What’s Normal?
During the healing process, you may notice:
Mild redness
Dryness
Peeling or flaking
Itching
These are all normal parts of healing.
When to Reach Out
If you have questions about how your tattoo is healing, or notice anything that seems unusual, please contact your artist through Venue. We’re always happy to help.
Touch-Ups
Most tattoos heal beautifully with proper aftercare, but occasionally a small touch-up may be needed once your tattoo has fully healed.
We offer one complimentary touch-up for tattoos completed at Eternal Lotus Tattoo. If you feel your tattoo could benefit from one, simply contact your artist through Venue and include a few clear photos of the healed tattoo.
Touch-ups are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility may vary depending on how the tattoo has healed and whether aftercare instructions were followed.
If additional touch-ups or changes are requested beyond the initial complimentary touch-up, your artist will discuss any applicable pricing with you before scheduling.
